Goa is a small State nestled on the Western Coast of India. But contrary to its size, Goa's natural resources are out of all proportions. A natural harbour on India's western seaboard; getting generous rainfall; vast areas of virgin forests; innocent divine beaches where the sea plays hide and seek with the shore; a backdrop of swaying palm trees; rivers and creeks teeming with fish; and a land so fertile you tickle it with a hoe and it bursts out laughing with a harvest. For thousands of years, people in Goa had just tickled the land, raised crops, caught fish and lived a simple life. They were unaware of the Iron Ore treasure that nature had concealed inside the good earth. It was Goa's moment of destiny when this treasure was discovered and brought in its wake, an entirely new industry to Goa - Mining.

Late Mr. Rajaram N.S. Bandekar founded about 70 years ago the HOUSE OF RAJARAM N. S. BANDEKAR which is popularly known in Goa as RNSB Group and has been in the business of Mineral Ore for many decades. The House today is one of the leading exporters of Iron Ore from Goa to Japan, China, Middle East, Europe and other countries. Besides Mining, this group has diverse activities in Tourism and Hospitality owning a few Hotels in Goa. So also, the RNSB Group was a pioneer in Goa to start a unique first of its kind Helicopter Chartering Operations. So also the Group has begun to sow its seeds in the ever booming Real Estate and Construction Industry.

SUVARN BANDEKAR BUILDING is the Corporate Headquarters and nerve centre of the RNSB Group’s manifold and far flung business enterprises and mining operations. Here are the executive offices where policy decisions are made, deals negotiated, contracts finalized, the day's performance assessed, tomorrow's plans worked out and all the while, a round the clock radio contact maintained with the Mines, the Jetties, the barges at anchorage and loading operations at various ports and other operational sites.

From its inception, Iron Ore production in Goa has been export oriented. The first export of 100 tonnes was made in 1947. It reached one million tonnes in 1954, seven million tonnes in 1968, 10 million tonnes in 1971 and a maximum of 14 million tonnes in 1985. It remained around 15 million tonnes for some years and now stands at a glorious figure of 40 millon tonnes. The RNSB Group were among the first to enter the mining industry. Today, they have several mines in different places and the map shows the exact location of the RNSB Group’s Head Office, Mines, River Jetties, Hotels and the Marmagoa & Panaji Ports.
